Australia has an appetite for Sheep's milk products.
Our Journey to the Woolworths Seedlab Expo in Sydney
Earlier this month, we had the privilege of being selected to attend the Woolworths Seedlab Expo held on March 5, at Woolworths’ headquarters in Bella Vista, Sydney. This annual event, organised by Seedlab Australia, offers businesses like ours a unique platform to showcase our products and connect directly with key decision-makers at one of Australia’s largest supermarket chains. This was our first time flying with our product, we took over two full chilly bins packed with our range of products, and a lot of ice packs to make sure they stayed fresh! Although there was a few learnings along the way of how to manage traveling loaded with chilled products, we managed to arrive with everything in tact.
Our Experience at the Expo
Participating in the Seedlab Expo was an enriching experience. We had the opportunity to present our range of sheep milk products to Woolworths Category Managers and support staff, engaging in one-on-one sessions that provided invaluable insights and feedback. The expo not only allowed us to highlight the quality and uniqueness of our offerings but also enabled us to understand better the dynamics of supplying to a national retailer in a country 5 times the size of ours! It is safe to say our products were an absolute hit, every one was amazed with our whole range’s flavour and potential to fill a gap for those who struggle with consuming cow dairy.
The Significance of Seedlab Australia
Seedlab Australia, who is supported by Woolworths, is a unique incubator and accelerator program that assists Australian and New Zealand FMCG businesses in becoming retail-ready. The program offers live online sessions, on-demand video content, personalised advice, masterclasses, and workshops, culminating in pitch opportunities like the Seedlab Expo. This comprehensive support system has been a great tool to help to prep businesses like ours to scale and meet the demands of large retailers.
Looking Ahead
The Expo has opened new avenues for us and also helped to remind us how much bigger the world is outside of little New Zealand. We are optimistic about the potential collaborations and opportunities that may arise from the connections we made during the event. As we continue our journey, we remain committed to producing tummy freindly, high-quality, nutrient-rich, and sustainable sheep milk products for our customers.
We grateful that incubators like this are available to help foster innovation and growth within the FMCG sector, and we are honoured to be part of this vibrant community.
